In 2024, we visited Trinity Sixth Form Academy in West Yorkshire to see how MASSOLIT is used day-to-day by teachers and students. Hearing directly from staff gave us a great look at what’s working, and how the platform fits into their teaching.
Trinity opened in 2020 during the pandemic and has been big on finding smart ways to keep students motivated. “We came across MASSOLIT and absolutely felt it was the right thing at the right time.” says Vice Principal Miranda Saville.
MASSOLIT quickly became a key part of their “review, do, preview” study routine. Allowing students to arrive at lesson prepared and revisit concepts they find difficult. As Miranda says: “It’s fantastic for building independent learners, it’s engaging, and it gets students ready for what’s next.”
Teachers are big fans of MASSOLIT’s analytics tools, which provide instant insights into student engagement — from who’s watching the videos to how long they’re spending on them and how well they’re doing in quizzes. “The analytics that MASSOLIT provides means that we can know instantly which students have accessed videos, how long they spent on them, and how they performed on quizzes,” says Miranda.
This data helps teachers quickly identify where students might be struggling and adapt their teaching accordingly. Students, too, are actively engaged with the platform. “We very rarely have to chase the students to complete the MASSOLIT notes section of their independent study,” Miranda adds.
Many take notes, complete quizzes, make flashcards, and apply what they’ve learned directly in their work. The results speak for themselves: in 2023, 40% of English students at Trinity went on to study English at university — well above the national average. As Miranda put it, “I think we can thank MASSOLIT quite a lot for that.”

What came through most clearly during this visit was the direct impact MASSOLIT is having on student outcomes at the Sixth Form. When students are exposed to high-level thinking and what’s possible beyond the classroom they’re more likely to push themselves and achieve better results. The results Trinity have seen are incredible and are a testament to just how impactful MASSOLIT can be, especially when a member of staff as passionate and dedicated as Miranda is involved.
