From the Novel to the Learning Platform: The Story Behind Our Name
Have you ever wondered where we got our name? You aren’t alone! This is probably the question we get asked most, along with “How do you pronounce MASSOLIT?”.
The name comes from one of the great works of literature: The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov. In this wild, satirical novel about life in Stalinist Russia, “MASSOLIT” is the name of the writer's union.
The term roughly means “Moscow Association of Writers” or “Literature for the Masses.” Our Founder, Chris Tudor, loved that second idea: stories, ideas, and learning for everyone. So, he ran with it – only this time, it’s not just literature.
That’s how MASSOLIT Online Education was born: a platform built to share knowledge widely and make high-quality learning accessible to all, from classrooms to living rooms.
As for the pronunciation… pronounce it as a single smooth word – not letter-by-letter. It should sound a bit like the words "masseur-lit" squashed together, but quicker and cleaner: MASS-oh-lit.
So there you have it – the mystery of MASSOLIT, solved! A name with a literary twist and a big heart for learning. Next time you mention it, you can drop a fun fact and earn a few nerd points while you're at it.
